Jamal’s writing experience spans multiple genres, which includes politics, digital media, and video game culture. He attended NC State's MFA program and NYU’s American Journalism program. His creative work has been published in The Missouri Review, the minnesota review, Apogee Journal, and Linden Avenue Journal, to name a few. His culture writing has been featured in The New York Times, Mother Jones, NPR, The Washington Post, and others. Jamal’s Afro-Caribbean roots inform his writing, much of which explores race, family, and love.
